Matthew Perry’s cause of death teased an expert: “Don’t blame ketamine”

An addiction medicine expert takes a stand on the debate surrounding the cause of death of actor Matthew Perry.

Matthew Perry the coroner recently revealed that the actor died in an accident caused by “acute effects of ketamine”. The cause of death report cited drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine as contributing factors to the actor’s death.

Now a doctor and specialist in addiction medicine Zaid Fadul says TMZmagazine that it is wrong for him to say that ketamine killed Perry.

– Matthew Perry was well loved, but I don’t think it’s fair to say he died from ketamine. If you use alprazolam in a hot tub, you can drown. You can also drown in a drunken state, says the doctor.

– The key factor here is that when taking medication, you take the risk that something could go wrong. It’s always a good approach to use them in a safe environment, he adds.

Fadul also draws attention to how much ketamine Perry had in his blood

– Usually, when someone uses a drug, such as ketamine, their tolerance increases very quickly. Then they end up using larger amounts of drugs to get the same effect.

Fadul therefore suspects that ketamine was found in Perry’s blood because the actor had already taken a little more ketamine earlier.

Ketamine is often used to treat depression and anxiety, which is why Perry had also used it.

It is not known if Perry used ketamine as a form of treatment or for recreational purposes. According to Fadel, the cause of death report may point to the latter, but there is no certainty.

Fadeli does not rule out the use of ketamine. It can help, but not all treatments are right for everyone. Fadel emphasizes how to take ketamine safely and in the right environment. Let Perry’s fate serve as a warning, according to Fadel.
