Matthew demands unpleasant decisions from Flick

Record national player Lothar Matthäus demands that national soccer coach Hansi Flick make unpleasant decisions when looking for a European Championship tribe.

He hopes “that we will then also see the tough Hansi and I know that there is one too,” wrote Matthäus in his column for the pay-TV channel “Sky”: “He then has to put players in positions that don’t suit them that much, but are much more useful to the team. I’m not just thinking of Kimmich.”

Joshua Kimmich plays in the national team and at FC Bayern Munich in the defensive midfield position. However, some experts believe he could be more valuable as a right-back, at least in the DFB team. Kimmich was also recently criticized for the national team’s sporting crisis.

For Matthäus it is clear that the squad of the national team for the next international matches in September will look significantly different than in June. Flick must “correct the wrong decisions in the next few games and then we can get the curve back on”.

There is no more time for testing for the home EM in twelve months: “The coach should now slowly know who his bosses are and who lacks quality or is even a disruptive factor in the group that he cannot use.”
