Munich (dpa) – Soccer record national player Lothar Matthäus has no problem with being described as a “headline supplier” by Bayern boss Oliver Kahn.
“Skirmishes like the one between Kahn and me are part of it,” Matthäus wrote in his Sky column. “There is no need for a reconciliation talk between Oliver and me. Everything is okay there. Oliver is still a person of respect for me.”
Matthäus had previously criticized Bayern managers Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic for dealing with striker Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires in the summer of 2023. “Unfortunately, he has been interpreting his role as a good football expert more and more as a headline supplier. He would be well advised not to talk about topics for which he has no inside view,” Kahn then stated.
That’s not a problem for Matthäus: “As a player, he gave his all for Bayern like no other and now he’s responsible. There are no differences between us at all, despite the skirmishes of the last few days. Sometimes that just comes with it bit about it.”
