Actress Matleena Kuusniemi turns 50 today, September 24. The award-winning actor is a familiar face from theater stages, screens and TV series as well.
During his career, Kuusniemi has won two Jussi awards and two Venla awards.
Kuusniemi has always been a freelancer.
– This is always a wave movement, but freelancing suits me. I have always had a good tolerance for uncertainty. The other side of the coin is that the hunger for work remains and you can’t wallow in it, Kuusniemi commented to Iltalehte in 2018.

Kuusniemi made his breakthrough Restlessin the hit film in 2000. Before that, he had already acted in the late 90’s Academy of Hearts – drama series.
Kuusniemi was one of those who told about director Aku Louhimie’s inappropriate behavior when the Me too controversy came to light.
Kuusniemi told A-studio in 2018 that the Levottomat film directed by Louhimie and especially its marketing was the most humiliating experience of all.
Kuusniemi told Iltalehte that he received a lot of feedback and support after coming out.
– It’s nice to be supported. Hopefully now solidarity will increase so that people support each other even in the middle of difficult things. If it increases at all, that’s a good thing, Kuusniemi said.
