Matleena Kuusniemi did a wild stunt in the movie Skimbagirls

Actress Matleena Kuusniemi turned out to be a real badass during the filming of the new movie.

Matleena Kuusniemi, 49, stars in the new Skimbagirls medley comedy directed by Marja Pyykö. The movie, set in the snowy landscapes of Lapland, features an exciting scene when Kuusniemi hangs from a moving chairlift by one hand.

Although the scene looks dangerous from the viewer’s point of view, Kuusniemi assures that the filming went without any accidents.

– I have a side that likes to put myself in “unpleasant” places. I would love to do the stunts myself, if only I can do them. It’s also easier in terms of the image when you don’t have to think about who is hanging there, the actor tells Iltalehte at the film’s press conference.

Kuusniemi says that the stunt scenes are physically demanding. The same scene may require several takes, which requires good fitness.

– You have to concentrate on it all the time so that nothing hurts.

During his career, Kuusniemi has won two Jussi awards and one Venla statue. He is remembered for the film Levottomat directed by Aku Louhimie and the drama series Koukussa directed by Pyykö.

At the end of spring, the following shootings will already start, about which the actor is not yet able to tell in more detail.

– I really enjoy that, for once, I have time to prepare and I can let my subconscious know for the next role.
