After almost 24 years as club boss of the Bundesliga club, the 67-year-old announced his retirement in May last year. “It’s difficult to say bye-bye, goodbye, goodbye,” emphasized Fischer in his farewell speech to around 2,200 members and guests, who gave him long applause. For him, Beck was “the perfect successor.”
