British fashion retailer Matchesfashion Ltd. continues to build on its new leadership team. On Tuesday, the company announced the appointment of Stuart Hill as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Hill comes from competitor Farfetch Limited, where he was most recently Senior Vice President (SVP) responsible for logistics. Before that he held various management positions at Asos and John Lewis. He was also an entrepreneur himself and founded the two logistics companies WnDirect and Lorry Route. According to the company, Hill will take up his future post at Matchesfashion in September.
In the past few weeks, the e-commerce specialist has already filled two key positions. In May, Dave Murray was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He also comes from Farfetch and is expected to join Matchesfashion in the fall. Last week, the company then announced that former Asos boss Nick Beighton would take over as CEO.
Hill and his future boss Beighton know each other from their times together at the clothing retailer Asos. Beighton said in a statement that he had “experienced firsthand” the impact the designated COO could have on a company. “As the founder of two successful logistics companies, he also brings an entrepreneurial attitude that will help Matchesfashion remain flexible, innovative and customer-centric,” says Beighton. “I’m sure we will all benefit from his industry knowledge and extensive experience in e-commerce, global logistics and retail.”
