Two minimal victories for Jong AZ and Jong Ajax in matchday 24 of the first division. The talents from Alkmaar won 1-0 at home against Roda JC and the talents from Amsterdam achieved three points when they visited Jong FC Utrecht, 0-1.
The most striking player in Wijdewormer was without a doubt Tom Kerssens. The midfielder scored the only goal of the match against Roda JC and finished the match as goalkeeper.
New faces
The win at Roda JC means the first victory for Leeroy Echteld. Last week, the Jong AZ coach lost 4-1 to FC Groningen on his debut. This time it went a lot better and Echteld did so with a number of new faces. For example, Kasper Boogaard and Deacon van der Klaauw made their debut in professional football.

Kerssens’ goal came in the 26th minute. Jong AZ took advantage of fumbling in the Limburg defense and Kerssens eventually scored in the penalty area. And so he enhanced his basic debut with his first professional goal.
Goalkeeper injury
In the final phase, goalkeeper Kiyani Zeggen was injured after making a save. Since Jong AZ had already made five substitutions, Echteld chose to put Kerssens on goal. And the match winner did that excellently, because he kept his goal clean. The Koempels ended the game with ten men, because Peña Zauner received his second yellow card just before the end.
Jong AZ line-up: Say; Esteves (Van Aken/60), Stam, Dekker (Kalisvaart/60), Dekkers; Postma (Boogard/75), Kerssens, Engel; Kewal, Koster (Berkhout/80), Gerold (Van der Klaauw/80)

In a fairly boring match, Young Ajax won for the first time in 2024. Jaydon Banel scored for the Amsterdam youngsters. Furthermore, newcomer Julian Rijkhoff and goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli were in the starting line-up.
Banel match winner
Just like with Jong AZ, the goal also came in the first half. After more than half an hour, Ar’jany Martha pushed through and David served Kalokah. The attacker then passed and Jaydon Banel was able to tap the ball in at the far post.
After the break there was little to enjoy at the FC Utrecht training complex. However, the experienced Argentinian goalkeeper Rulli kept his team going a few times.
Line-up Young Ajax: Rulli; Gaaei (Sarfo/63), Aertssen, Kaplan, Martha; Brandes (Mannsverk/63), Vos, Fitz-Jim (Agougil/73); Banel, Rijkhoff (Chourak/73), Kalokoh (Gorter/83)
