Groups of men have come into confrontation in Leeuwarden. That happened near the train station. Train traffic had to be stopped for a short time due to the situation.
In Leeuwarden, about 30 to 40 people confronted each other in front of the station, says police spokesman Renate Winkel.
Because people were walking on the track, train traffic was halted for some time by order of the police. The trains are now running again.
Winkel could not say whether it concerned football supporters for privacy reasons. She does say that images of the incident are circulating on social media. A video can be seen there posted by someone who says that it is about a brawl between supporters of SC Cambuur and SC Heerenveen. You can see men fighting with each other.
According to Winkel, arrests have been made, she could not say who the detainees are and what they were arrested for. It is also unclear whether there were any injuries, she says. More will probably be known about this on Saturday.
Around ten o’clock there was still a lot of police present in the city center of Leeuwarden.
