From April, masks will be compulsory in all schools throughout Germany! This was announced by the Hamburg Education Senator Ties Rabe (SPD) on Friday at the end of the Conference of Ministers of Education in Lübeck.
In addition, the random tests – depending on the infection rate on site – are to be ended in May. After two years of the pandemic, children and young people should experience normal school operations again in the summer, the Ministers of Education announced. They agree that the schools should take a “careful path to normality”.
The procedure agreed between the states to relax the corona measures corresponds to the opening steps in other parts of society, said Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister of Education Karin Prien (56, CDU), who chaired the meeting.
The masks-off in schools comes after almost all measures in Germany are supposed to fall on March 20th. Only: Masks must continue to be worn on buses and trains, as well as in old people’s homes and hospitals. Compulsory testing can also be ordered there, just like in schools. At least that is in the draft by Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann (44, FDP).
