Masks are no longer mandatory on public transport

Even though the epidemiological situation in Spain is being pretty stablewe still drag one of the sanitary measures which was key to combating infections during the pandemic who arrived three years ago: the use of masks on public transport. However, this situation will change from today, February 8, the day we will definitively say goodbye to masks in transport.

As announced last Thursday, January 26, by the Minister of Health, Caroline Dariashe Minister council approved this Tuesday the proposal to eliminate the obligation to wear a mask on public transport, taking into account the reports of experts and scientific societies, as well as the current epidemiological situation of Covid-19 in Spain, which is quite stable.

The measure will enter into force today, as soon as it is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE)so that from its publication we will be able to say goodbye definitively to the masks on buses, trains, subways, planes and taxis of our country.

It must be made very clear that the measure only affects public transport. In fact, for now The mask will continue to be mandatory in health establishments and services, in pharmacies and for all workers and visitors to social health centers.

In addition, from the Government recommend the use of the mask to people with symptoms and vulnerable people, in closed spaces and in large events.
