The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, explained the decision by a steady improvement in the epidemiological situation. On the wave of the omicron strain in winter, the peak values of detected cases of the disease in the city exceeded 20 thousand per day, and on March 14 less than a thousand new cases were detected.
