How did the MAS VIDA Foundation come about and how did they adapt to the pandemic?
MAS VIDA began nine years ago, on Fridays they cooked and people came to eat and another team brought pots with food to the plaza, there was a sewing workshop on Wednesdays and everything changed when the pandemic hit.
During the pandemic, the Argentine Army contacted Referent Carly Annacondia and asked if we could cook for those most in need, and we accepted. At that time, the Army came to withdraw 3,000 daily rations of food to distribute to the neighborhoods. It was also cooked in the center for the people who attended with their taper. In turn, we went out to the streets to deliver merchandise to those who couldn’t get close and needed it. Thus, MORE LIFE is present in the city of Quilmes, Solano, Berazategui, Avellaneda, Retiro, Varela, where there is a need, we are always willing to help. Currently MAS VIDA has increased the amount of rations and merchandise delivery due to the difficult time many families are going through.
What services do you offer to the community?
We provide comprehensive social assistance that consists of giving a plate of food at our headquarters from Monday to Saturday at noon. On Fridays and Sundays we add Dinner. Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. snack for children.
We offer school support, we have a therapeutic listening program. Training in electricity, plumbing, dry construction, cell phone repair and renewable energy. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays we offer showers for homeless people. Solidarity wardrobe. Hairdresser on Mondays. And we went out to the neighborhoods to provide food and clothing.
Once a week, Dr. Guillermo Do Santo provides medical services. We have a Psychopedagogue Lic. Gisele Brucelario.
On Saturdays there is a picnic area in La Ribera de Quilmes.
We have built houses for families in dire need.
Who are the references of the Foundation?
Carly Annacondia and her wife Analía Capaldo. Carlos Annacondia (h) is a recognized businessman in the city of Quilmes, he has a family business with a great track record. And he dedicates his time every day to his company in the morning and after 1:30 p.m. he is present at the MAS VIDA Center. A center that works all day, with the unconditional help of a great team of collaborators who donate their time.
What challenges do you have for the coming years?
We want to emphasize education, there are nine-year-old children who can’t write their names, literacy comes first. The great challenge is to educate for an adolescence without addictions. The schools in the area ask us if we can go to give talks. We are at the service of those who need it.
