Marum dives into party week with victory over Drenthina. “The only one who is now concerned about the next match is the trainer”

In the shadow of leader Velocitas 1897, Marum and Drenthina competed in 2L for second place and participation in the playoffs. Marum was 2-0 too strong for the Drenten in the disappointing top match.

It was absolutely exciting and both teams fought for what they were worth, but that is all about the meeting between Marum and Drenthina. There was little to enjoy playing football for fans. In any case, it was not visible that the numbers two and three of the ranking were on the field here.

Target threat out of the blue

Nothing significant happened in the first twenty minutes. Both teams kept each other in balance and the first real goal danger came out of nowhere. A cleared ball was suddenly taken on the shoe by Drenthina midfielder Janniek Arends, but the nice attempt disappeared via a defender next to the goal.

Moments later, Marum also finally got the first opportunity. Tom Boezerooy tricked three Drenthina players, but his effort was stopped by goalkeeper Yannick Berends. After half an hour, the same Boezerooy escaped the guests’ offside trap and Berends was passed in the short corner: 1-0.

Drenthina was then upset and played very sloppy in the last fifteen minutes before the break. However, Marum was unable to take advantage and the visitors even had a great chance to come alongside. Jan Jaap Wever was allowed to approach the goal alone, but his shot was well kept out of the goal by closing post Klaas Kleiker.

Predictable attack play

In the second half, Drenthina had by far the most possession, but the attacking game was too predictable to worry the home team. The many high balls were easy to defend for Marum’s concentrated playing central duo. Apart from a few headers from the long striker Roland Koops, there was no danger.

Marum leaned back and was completely useless offensively, but found the net once in injury time. Jelle de Lange delivered the ball from an incorrectly obtained throw-in to Boezerooy, whose cross was then pushed past Berends in a controlled manner by the emerging Rogier van der Ploeg: 2-0.

Party week

Marum now has a firm hold on second place, although the looming party week may throw a spanner in the works next week. Trainer Jan Piet Bosma remains remarkably laconic. ,,The festive week is a tradition here and the only one who is now concerned about the next match is the trainer. Ill see. It was not good today constructively and offensively, but we kept a clean sheet and worked hard. I am satisfied with that.”
