Lisandro Martínez has signed his contract with Manchester United, completing his transfer from Ajax to England. The Argentine defender is stuck in Manchester until mid-2027. An option for an extra year has also been included in the contract.
Last week Ajax and United, where Erik ten Hag is a trainer, reached agreement about the transition. The Amsterdammers will receive 57.37 million euros and that amount can rise to a maximum of 67.37 million euros.
“It’s an honor to be part of this great football club. I’ve worked so hard to get to this moment and now that I’m here I’m going to push myself even further,” said 24-year-old Martínez. “I want to thank Ajax and their fans for all the support they have given me. I had an incredible time there, but I feel the time is right to test myself in a different environment. Now I am at the perfect club to to do that.”
Martínez was taken over by Ajax from Defensa y Justicia in 2019.
