Martin Schindler misses semi-finals on the European Tour

Darts professional Martin Schindler has to wait for his first semi-final on the European Tour.

The World Cup participant from Strausberg reached a quarter-final in the tournament series for the fifth time in his career on Sunday in Kiel, but failed 4:6 at the Englishman Dave Chisnall.

Schindler remains 27th in the world rankings. A win would have moved him up a position and given him the best finish of his career.

World Cup semi-finalist Gabriel Clemens and second round participant Florian Hempel had already failed in their opening matches. Qualifier Lukas Wenig lost to Schindler in round two. Niko Springer, who had also earned his place in the tournament, was eliminated in the same round by world champion Michael Smith (England).

The last German to date in a semi-final on the European Tour was Max Hopp from Idstein in 2019.
