  • The author of ‘Money’ and ‘London Fields’ dies in Florida of esophageal cancer

British writer Martin Amis, one of the leading figures in English-language literature, died this Saturday at the age of 73 at his home in Lake Worth, Florida (United States). The author was afflicted with oesophageal cancer.

Son of the also renowned writer Kingsley Amis (from whom he distanced himself politically in the 1980s, after his support for Margaret Thatcher), Martin Amis became famous in the 1970s, in which he he was part of a brilliant generation of British writersamong which his books stood out for their descriptive acuity and his sharp sense of humor.
