The Meilandjes have lived in Uithoorn for a month for the recordings of the TV program Chateau Bijstand, in which they make entertainment out of a life on welfare. However, they were not exactly welcomed there with open arms: the shopkeepers from the area are raving about the behavior of the Meilandjes in the gossip magazines.

Acting

Now the well-known cheese shop Alexanderhoeve is getting involved in the Meiland discussion. This chain, with more than seventy branches, mainly in the west of the country, also has a branch in Uithoorn. Its owner, Mr. Arie, tells in the Story that he has experienced Martien in person and that it is all an act.

Mister Arie does not believe anything of Chateau Meiland from now on. “It’s one big play! Martien walked past my shop just like you and I walk here. He then waited outside the Brownies & Downies shop for the camera crew to complete their pre-inspection. That took about five minutes.”

Martien’s hand

After those five minutes, Martien suddenly started to behave hysterically, just like on TV, says Mr. Arie. “When Martien received a signal that they were ready, his hand went up and he walked into the lunchroom as Martien Meiland as the TV star. After ten minutes he was outside again. It’s charade, that act of his. Martin is fake!”

The owner of the adjacent Lady’s Fashion store, Mrs. Miriam, also goes wild in the Story. He accuses the Meilandjes of staging everything. She didn’t want to collaborate on an item. “I don’t want those people here. I would be ashamed if I saw on TV afterwards that it was all about the Meilandjes.”

Gijs opinion

René van der Gijp also called on television last week that Martien is an actor in real life. “It’s just an actor that man. Of course, that man only lasts ten minutes a day, that position in which he is.”

The new Meilandjes show Chateau Bijstand was supposed to start yesterday, but due to the TV promotion for Ukraine, the premiere has been postponed by one week.
