MARTIAN CHRONICLES: THE REUNION ON TELECINCO

Now that television has been recovering old hits from the past (‘Grand Prix’, ‘Yellow Humor’, ‘Password’…), one of the great ‘hits’ of TelecincoMartian Chronicles’, I had a lot of numbers to come back to the fore. Will do it with a one-day special this Tuesday December 12 (10:50 p.m.), but it will serve so that fans of the transgressive ‘show’ presented by Xavier Sarda relive with nostalgia a space that marked the dawn of the Spanish small screen from 1997 to 2005.

“This reunion is do some justice“I think this program needed a nice memory,” he tells EL PERIÓDICO Carlos Latrecreator of the special and who will act as a guide on this trip to the past together with Sardà himself.

The comedian, who became known thanks to the countless imitations he developed in ‘Martian Chronicles’, is aware of how complicated it would be to make a similar daily program today. And not only because Sardà, at 65 years old, has reiterated many times that he could not keep up with that pace. “Nowadays everyone is very sensitive and we are very well-wishers. You have to say what you have to say so that no one makes you dirty on the networks. If ‘The Martian Chronicles’ were on the air today, the networks wouldn’t burn, would explode“, emphasizes Latre.

Heated discussions

Because the program always dealt with controversy, for their heated debates and racy gatherings, and with qualifiers such as ‘trash TV’, for launching the most diverse characters to fame. “I think that was ‘Heidi’ compared to what we have done later on television, but we were the first to really begin to deal with issues that revolutionized the small screen and that were not seen in a good way. We dealt with the heart in a very strong way. , we were talking about ‘Big Brother’, ‘OT’, we were a very politically uncomfortable program and that, depending on what editorial lines, I didn’t like,” Latre defends himself.

“I didn’t like the power that Xavier had and that he could say something every night that would transcend socially, like ‘No to war’. Furthermore, we talked about all governments,” highlights the comedian, who highlights that in a program like this humor was always present.

‘The Anthill’, the ‘son’ of ‘Chronicles’

Paz Padilla, Fernando Ramos, Rocío Madrid, Rosario Pardo, Xavier Deltell, Mariano Mariano and Javier Cárdenas are some of the collaborators who will attend the special, as well as faces that were very present as Boris Izaguirre, Leonardo Dantés, Frank Blanco, Loles León, Ramoncín, Enrique del Pozo, Pilar Rahola, Marta López, Javier Nart, Susana Reche, Toni Clapés, Juan Carlos Ortega and Marbelys Zamora.

“The vast majority of people who were on the program have great memories of it because we learned a lot. In the end, what remains over time is affection,” says Latre, who currently collaborates on another of the star TV programs. Spanish, ‘The anthill’which he considers “a son of ‘Chronicles’, but less thug due to the time in which it is broadcast”.

There will also be a tribute to figures already missing such as Mr. Galindo, Rosa Maria Sardà, Carmen Hornillos and the executive producer and creator of the format, Joan Ramon Mainat, among others.

And is there a chance that the ‘Martian Chronicles’ reunion will continue? Latre does not close the door completely. “At the moment what has been agreed is to do this special, but you never know. Imagine that it works wonderfully and this is the beginning of something different,” he concludes.
