Marte Olsbu Røiseland flirts with TV job: “Would be tempting”

Marte Olsbu Røiseland’s life has been turned upside down in recent weeks. The biathlon record world champion is currently enjoying this to the fullest. At the same time, the Norwegian is already looking for new challenges.

For a few months, Marte Olsbu Røiseland’s life has not been what it was for many years. Things have not only changed for the retired biathlon record world champion, but have also gotten better.

“I certainly haven’t regretted my resignation. It’s rather surprising that I don’t miss professional sport even more,” said the Norwegian in an interview with “TV2”. The time right after the end of her career was hectic, but also “very nice”, the 32-year-old looked back on the past few weeks. “It was very exciting and the time passed quickly.”

The biggest change is yet to come for Røiseland and husband Sverre. The couple is expecting a baby. “Life will change compared to now in the fall. […] It will be a totally different life than in professional sport. But I think it will be very nice,” said the Norwegian, who only made her pregnancy public a few days ago: “It’s good that it’s out, because my belly has gotten pretty big lately.”

Although the birth and settling into her new home in Frolund are top priorities for the near future, Røiseland is already thinking about what to expect after that. “I hope to find something that I can be as passionate about as biathlon,” she said.

One of her options could end up being a return to the biathlon circus – possibly as a TV expert. “If I got a request, that would of course be tempting,” the 32-year-old flirted with a “change of sides”.

The advantage of this: If she continues to travel with the biathlon circus, she could automatically spend time with her husband Sverre, who is contractually bound to DSV until the 2026 Olympics. He had started his post with the German biathlon women last year.

Røiseland can be “finally normal”.

However, Marte does not want to predict whether this will ultimately happen. “The only thing I’ve decided is that I want to take a real summer vacation from now on. And I don’t want to commit to a full-time job too soon. I know I’ll have to do it eventually, but I don’t know yet when that will be,” said the record world champion, who is now looking forward to living together again within her own four walls.

“Sverre is often in Germany but I’ll hold the fort at home. But when he’s home we’re finally normal. He doesn’t have to be my coach in his free time anymore. I think he’s looking forward to that,” joked Røiseland.
