To the usual, almost structural, disagreements between ERC and Junts, the start of the legislature derived from the general elections have brought clashes under the arm between which, until now, they do not cease to be partners in governancethat is, the PSOE and the republicans. It is not that it is, either, an isolated event, as ERC’s controversial ‘no’ to the labor reform of the Government of Pedro Sánchez attests, but on those occasions the dissensions could be attributed to a different vision of society.
On the other hand, the crashes of the last week have been caused more by the way of conducting one party and the other than a substantive debate on a legislative issue. Thus, this Wednesday, the general secretary of ERC, Martha Rovirahas come up against the alleged gesture that the acting president would have made towards independence, as a way of winning their support, both on Thursday in the election of president of congress like in the eventual investiture of the socialist candidate.
Sánchez, in an appearance before the deputies of his party in this new legislature, has indicated that his Government It would promote the use of the co-official languages in the EU, coinciding with the semester of the Spanish presidency. Faced with this announcement, Rovira’s reply has been forceful: “What gesture? If you already assumed that and sealed it in an agreement at the dialogue and negotiation table on July 7, 2022,” he published on social networks. The message from the number two Republican is accompanied by the press release from this meeting of the dialogue forum between governments a year ago, to make matters worse, from the Moncloa press services.
Who gestured? If this is the case, he will assume and seal the agreements of the negotiating table on July 7, 2022. https://t.co/pQ092o4SIf

Condition for support for Armengol
It should be remembered that the use of Catalan, Galician and Basque is one of the ERC claims to support, in tomorrow’s vote, Francina Armengol as president of Congress.

Last Sunday, Rovira herself, (that the general secretary brings the public voice of the replies to the PSOE is already a message in itself) came out against the repeated interpretations that Junts, and especially the socialists, made about the meaning of the ERC vote tomorrow Thursday, in which they took their support for Armengol for granted.
As Esquerra sources explained to this newspaper, last Friday the Republican party told the PSOE that the direction of the vote was not, far from it, determined. And that the three requests of the party of oriol junqueras: the use of Catalan in the lower house, the creation of a commission of investigation on espionage through ‘software’ Pegasus and that the new direction of the Parliament did not oppose a possible amnesty law. With everything, the Republicans regret, the Socialists have maintained before public opinion their total certainty that the ERC vote would fall on Armengol’s side.
