Telstar and Mihkel Ainsalu separate immediately. In consultation between club and player, the contract of the 26-year-old midfielder has been dissolved. The thirteen-time Estonian international is now free to look for a new club.
In the preparation and in the first weeks of the competition, Ainsalu was regularly assigned a basic place by Telstar coach Mike Snoei. From the month of October, Ainsalu ended up on the reserve bench and played sporadically for Telstar. In the end he played twelve games for the White Lions and knew to score once.
“If boys are dissatisfied, then you just have to look elsewhere,” says Snoei about Ainsalu’s departure. “This is a great boy with an amazing professional mentality. But if you get a player from abroad, then he has to play. And he was increasingly on the bench. He is an Estonian international, so that is not right.”
“We therefore cooperated with a departure. We parted ways as far as possible. I understand that he is disappointed, but I only want players who want to play football at Telstar. And so this was the best solution,” said Prune.
