Marlijn Weerdenburg has ignored Eva Jinek’s advice to concentrate on just one branch of sport. “I still have to think about those words from time to time.”
She sings, acts and presents: Marlijn Weerdenburg. She will soon be in theaters with a new performance and for that reason she joined Eva Jinek’s talk show last night. “She is an actress, musical star, presenter and also a singer: Marlijn Weerdenburg is more or less the personification of a jack-of-all-trades,” said the hostess.
“Stop it, Marlin!”
Eva then reveals what advice she once gave Marlin. “Marlijn, a few years ago you made a program about your thirties dilemma and then you started talking to all kinds of people with the question: what should I do with my life?”
She continues: “Then you asked me: ‘What should I do with my career, Eef? Do I have to make a choice? Should I continue doing all the things I like?’ And I said to you so firmly: ‘Stop that, Marlin. Choose one thing and excel at it. Forget that you can do everything right, choose one thing.’”
thank God
Marlijn: “And I didn’t listen to you.”
Eve: “Not at all. Thank God!”
Fellow guest Nynke de Jong: “But I don’t think it’s for you, Eva.”
Eva: “Well, I thought: she can do a lot, all those things, but if she chooses something, she will be able to put all her strength into it and then she can erase all competition. That was my thought.”
‘I recharge’
Marlijn: “But I recharge myself through the diversity of the things I do, I am now behind.”
Eva: “Yes, you are one of those people who can.”
Marlijn: “Yes, but I still have to think about those words from time to time, so I think it’s very funny that you say it. I don’t do what Eva Jinek says!”
Eva: “No, I revealed my bad advice and you your independence.”
