Former Bayern professional Douglas Costa, who has been without a club since last October, has apparently found a new employer. Like transfer expert Fabrizio Romano Reportedly, the Brazilian offensive player is about to move to Samsunspor in Turkey. The 33-year-old and 16th in the table. the Süper Lig are on the way to reaching an oral agreement on a commitment until 2026.
The talks between the Samsunspor bosses and Costa advisor Junior Mendonza were going well – now it is said that the aim is to draw up the contract. Samsunspor has been trained by ex-Bundesliga coach Markus Gisdol for around three months. The 54-year-old took over the club around a year and a half after leaving Lokomotiv Moscow; he succeeded Hüseyin Eroglu and is tied down until the end of the season. In 14 games, Gisdol scored an average of 1.86 points with Samsunspor.

Costa, who is currently available on a free transfer, left LA Galaxy in the fall and the veteran received the second-highest salary in the squad as a designated player. Costa has played 51 competitive games with the MLS club since his arrival in 2022, in which he scored eight goals and eight assists. The ex-national player recorded the most appearances for a club for Shakhtar Donetsk (203), followed by Juventus Turin (103) and FC Bayern (97). Former Bundesliga professionals Kingsley Schindler (30) and Rick van Drongelen (25), among others, are under contract with Samsunspor.
