The six-time ski jumping world champion Markus Eisenbichler flew onto the podium in his first competition in seven weeks.
The 32-year-old finished third on Saturday in Iron Mountain, Michigan. This made the Bavarian, who has not yet competed in a World Cup competition this season, the best German.
Eisenbichler flew twice to 131.5 m, and after the first round he was even in second place. The victory went to the Austrian Jonas Schuster, son of the former national coach Werner Schuster.
Team Olympic bronze medalist Constantin Schmid finished sixth, Andreas Tittel came seventh two weeks after winning the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships.
