British retailer Marks & Spencer Group Plc has expanded its e-commerce offering in the growing sportswear category. The “The Sports Edit” platform, in which the group of companies has held a stake since last year, has now been integrated directly into the Marks & Spencer online shop.
In the “The Sports Edit on M&S.com” segment, “over 200 carefully selected womenswear products” are now offered, the group said in a statement on Tuesday. Brands such as Beyond Yoga, FP Movement, Girlfriend Collective and YMO are represented there, as well as shoe labels such as Asics, Veja and Hoka.
Katie Bickerstaffe, Co-CEO of Marks & Spencer, explained the strategic rationale: “This year we will be pushing our growth categories and entering the sportswear battle,” she said in a statement. With the inclusion of “The Sports Edit” in its own online shop, the retailer now offers a comprehensive range of wellness articles and is also strengthening its position as the “leading omnichannel platform”.
