North America will get more Finnish color for coaching, because the NHL team Vancouver Canucks has washed up Marko Torenius AHL organization Abbotsford Canucks as goaltending coach.
– Marko brings experience to our group. He has coached some of the best goaltenders in the world, said Abbotsford club GM Ryan Johnson in the bulletin.
Torenius last coached in the KHL at SKA Pietar. Before that, he worked for two years in Sibir Novosibirsik, which plays in the same league. In Finland, Torenius has worked in Espoo Blues.
His teaching has included, among other things, being selected as the NHL’s best goalkeeper last season Igor Šestjorkin. In addition, he has given lessons in several different teams to a former NHL guard Mikko Koskinen.
