Market values Werder: Ducksch and Stage at their best – only 2 devaluations

Bundesliga update

The market value update of the Bundesliga caused comparatively little movement at Werder Bremen, but above all recognized the positive developments of some professionals. Six rises compared to only two devaluations and with Marvin Ducksch and Jens Stage two top performers achieve a new personal best.

“Ducksch proved his importance in the second half of the season when Niclas Füllkrug was injured. He played a key role in keeping Bremen in the league,” explains market value admin Julius Weißenstein, explaining the move from 6.5 million to 7.5 million euros. Since the World Cup break, the 29-year-old has delivered nine goals and three assists and has received his third consecutive plus.

In the club’s internal ranking, Ducksch moves up to sole second place behind Füllkrug, who remains unchanged at 13 million euros – previously he had shared this with Marco Friedl. After a solid first season as captain, the 25-year-old Austrian is also on the up. With 7 million euros (+0.5 million euros), the left foot is scratching his personal best from 2021, when he was prescribed 7.5 million euros before Bremen were relegated.

In the defense of the green-whites, Milos Veljkovic (+0.5 to 5.5 million) also received a slight upgrade. Coach Ole Werner is spoiled for choice in central defense: with Friedl, Veljkovic, Amos Pieper (6 million) and Niklas Stark (5.5 million) you can now find four of the seven most valuable Bremen players in the defensive center. There is also right-back Mitchell Weiser (+0.5 to 6 million), who, as the best preparer (10 assists), can almost be regarded as an offensive force.

Werder had the biggest construction site in midfield, which is why a top-class newcomer was signed in Naby Keïta (28). The rising form curve of Stage, who was the king transfer before this season with a transfer fee of 4 million euros, also gives hope. “While the Dane had adjustment problems in the Bundesliga at the beginning of the first half of the season, he was able to give stability to Bremen’s midfield in the second half of the season,” notes Weißenstein. Stage has also increased offensively since the winter (three goals, two assists) and has risen from EUR 3.5 million to EUR 5 million.

The only devaluation in the squad goes to Leonardo Bittencourt, alongside the long-term injured Jean Manuel Mbom (-0.2 to 0.8 million). After a good start (two goals in the first four games), the 29-year-old had a bumpy season with many absentees that never got him into the right rhythm. After the playmaker was about to switch to Benfica two years ago, other teammates are currently considered candidates for sale – this is reflected in the market value, which has fallen from EUR 3.5 million to EUR 2.8 million.

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
