Iniesta continues to lose
Ex-BVB professional Paco Alcácer remains the most valuable professional in the United Arab Emirates. The Spanish striker is one of several well-known names in the latest update of the UAE Pro League who has to make compromises in terms of market value due to age. Contrary to this trend, the former Bochum resident Alexander Merkel is gaining slightly.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who played for the German junior national teams up to the U20 level, recorded at least a small increase from 850,000 to 900,000 euros after he signed with the Hatta Club after being without a club. At the weakest club in the league in terms of standings and squad value, Merkel is now a regular and the most valuable player in the team.
Alcácer sits at the top of the league in terms of market value with a valuation of 7 million euros, which in the update for the 30-year-old is reduced by 500,000 euros to the same amount. The former Dortmund player is on the field with Spain’s football icon Andrés Iniesta at the Emirates Club this season. The 39-year-old world and European champion will be devalued from 1 million to 800,000 euros due to his age, as will the old stars Miralem Pjanic (-1 million to 5 million euros) and Moussa Marega (-0.5 million to 3.5 million euros) at Sharjah FC.
