Update in the Super Lig
Transfermarkt.com.tr has completely revised the market values of the Turkish Süper Lig. At the top of the ranking by squad value, Fenerbahce defended their lead despite a slight minus from 2 million to 133 million euros. However, there are shifts among the pursuers. Because the struggling defending champion Besiktas is devalued by 6 million to 102 million euros, the club of the new coach Valérien Ismaël falls back to fourth place. Both league leaders Trabzonspor (+5 to 112.1 million euros) and Galatasaray (-2 to 104.2 million), which has the biggest winner with Kerem Aktürkoglu (23), pass.
Winger Aktürkoglu is up for the sixth year in a row, jumping from €11m to €15m, making him the third most valuable professional in Turkey’s top flight. “He’s the shooting star of the league – even though he plays for a club that doesn’t find its way this season as 15th in the Süper Lig. His skills kept flashing in the Europa League. Especially against Barcelona he turned up again and again. He has already attracted the attention of many clubs with his performances,” explains Gökhan Yagmur (Croncho), Area Manager TR, about the Turkish national player, who was last linked to VfL Wolfsburg, VfB Stuttgart and TSG Hoffenheim in the TM rumor mill was brought.
Just ahead of Aktürkoglu in the market value ranking are only Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayindir (23; +0.5 to 15.5 million) and Trabzonspor’s goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir (25), who has increased to 18 million euros and is maintaining his lead. “Cakir has cemented his position as the clear number one in Turkish football. He shows an excellent performance, which is why Trabzonspor is so lonely at the top of the table, not least because of him. However, since its value is already quite high by Turkish standards, it ‘only’ increases by one million euros. In order to continue to grow and break the 20 million mark, he would have to change or show his class on the international stage,” emphasizes Yagmur.
Berisha to Cakir: The most valuable players in the Süper Lig
Update Süper Lig: Crespo, Kim & Güler among market value winners at Fenerbahce
At market value leader Fenerbahce, Bayindir includes newcomers Miguel Crespo (25; +2.5 to 5m) and Min-jae Kim (25; +2 to 11m) as well as top talent Arda Güler (17; +1 .45 to 2.2 million) among the winners.
The latter, who made his debut with the Fener pros in August last year and thus became the third youngest debutant in the club’s history, is one of the ten most valuable youngsters in the U17 age group and is on a similar level with Bayern Munich’s Paul Wanner. Yagmur’s assessment of Güler: “He’s a fine footballer. For his still very young age, he already shows a good overview and a certain composure. At least that’s what it looks like, it’s being built up carefully. If he keeps this up, he can go far.”
Berisha and Özil lose value – Biggest loss at Tufan and Pjanic
However, the red pen is applied to his teammates Mergim Berisha (23) and Mesut Özil (33). Center forward Berisha loses 1.5 million to 7.5 million euros, the most recently suspended captain Özil loses 0.7 million euros and is still worth 3 million euros. The last time he was at this level was in 2008, when he was employed by Werder Bremen. “The transfer of Özil is probably a big misunderstanding. At no time, or if at all in the first three months, was there a harmonious cooperation, he was always the focus, but not when it came to football on the pitch. Business and advertising deals or the formation of a group that is said to have worked against the coach shaped his time at Fenerbahce more,” said Yagmur.
Meanwhile, the biggest losers of the update are Feners Ozan Tufan (27) and Barcelona loan Miralem Pjanic (31) from the fallen double winner Besiktas. The two central midfielders are devalued by 3.5m and now rank at 6.5m and 11.5m euros respectively, which means that Pjanic falls out of the top 5 most valuable players in the Süper Lig.
Yagmur’s assessment of the Bosnian international: “Bringed in as a star of the league to further strengthen the winning team and cause a stir in the Champions League, things turned out very differently. The fantastically playing team from last season couldn’t even begin to build on that and Pjanic went under. There were also many injuries.”
This is how the Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
