Market values Switzerland: FC Basel’s Diouf & Amdouni biggest winners

Update super league

After the end of the season, double winner BSC Young Boys also increased again in terms of squad value in the Swiss market value update – this time, however, the biggest winners are under contract with FC Basel 1893. While the Bernese are up 7.1 million to 69.5 million euros, the Conference League semi-finalist is catching up thanks to the upgrades of the previous loan players Andy Diouf (20) and Zeki Amdouni (22). After a plus of 13.8 million, FCB is now valued at 58.8 million euros.

Midfielder Diouf gets the biggest boost in this update, up from €1.4m to €7m now, making him the fourth most valuable player in the Super League. Oliver Zesiger, Area Manager Transfermarkt CH, explains: “Diouf’s performances on the national and international stage were particularly strong in the spring. Even if he still makes the wrong decisions too often – his penetrating power is impressive and has already called well-known clubs like RB Leipzig onto the scene. The fact that FC Basel is willing to pay 5.5 million for Diouf speaks for his talent.”

Meanwhile, Diouf teammate Amdouni has doubled his market value and is now valued at EUR 10 million – only BSC midfielder Fabian Rieder (+3 million to EUR 15 million) is even higher. Basel also digged deep into their own pockets for the Swiss national striker and committed the previous Lausanne loan for 4 million euros. Zesiger says: “He had an excellent spring and was the formative figure for Basel when they reached the Conference League semi-finals. He also scored in the championship and in the national team. No wonder the list of interested clubs is long and includes top-class clubs like Benfica, Eintracht Frankfurt and Leipzig.”

The winners also include Ardon Jashari (20; Lucerne), who is up €1.5m to €7.5m, and future Wolfsburg player Cédric Zesiger (24; BSCYB), for whom it is up €1.5m 5.5 million euros or Zan Celar (24; Lugano), who jumps by 1 million to 4 million euros. Ex-Bundesliga professional Max Meyer continued to build on better days at FC Luzern and sometimes even led the team onto the field as captain. After doubling to 3 million euros, the former Schalke player is at its highest level since the end of 2021.

On the other hand, Kastriot Imeri (22; BSCYB) was devalued again by EUR 1 million to EUR 6 million, Kevin Mbabu (28; Servette) by EUR 1.5 million to EUR 3.5 million, Leonidas Stergiou (21; St . Gallen), by 500,000 to 3 million euros and Becir Omeragic (21; Zurich) – by 1.5 million to 3 million euros. Zesiger says about the future Montpellier defender: “He was used recently, but only for a few minutes and not in his usual position in central defence. Due to the little playing time and his susceptibility to injury, a devaluation is justified. He will move to Montpellier on a free transfer, which says a lot in a league where young talent very rarely go abroad without a transfer.”

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
