Update in Ekstraklasa
The Polish Ekstraklasa has a new most valuable player: Ernest Muci. The 22-year-old attacker from reigning cup winners Legia Warsaw gains the most in the market value update, rising from 5 million to 8 million euros. The seven-time Albanian international player thus dethroned Rakow’s goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic, who is still valued at 7 million euros.
Muci, who has been with Legia since January 2021, contributed nine goals and two assists in 34 competitive games this season. “Muci has come into greater focus, especially thanks to his three impressive goals against Aston Villa in the Conference League. In the summer, Celta Vigo is said to have failed with an offer of 4 million euros. Fulham is currently being linked with Muci. It cannot be ruled out that Radoslaw Majecki (2020 for €7 million to AS Monaco; editor) will be replaced as Legia’s record sale,” says Michael Sroka, Area Manager Poland at Transfermarkt. Muci’s contract in Warsaw ends in 2025.
With Muci, Slisz & Expósito: Most Valuable Professionals of the Polish Ekstraklasa
Left-back Bartlomiej Wdowik from second-placed Jagiellonia Bialystok is up for 2.1 million euros. According to Sroka, the 23-year-old new national player from Poland is “the high-flyer of the season”. He describes him as a “prototypical full-back with a forward move”. The fact that Wdowik is dangerous on the offensive is demonstrated by his eleven points as a scorer (9 goals/2 assists) in the league. In this respect, he is one of the best defenders in the world and is almost on a par with Bayer professionals Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong.
“There are rumors about Galatasaray, but it wouldn’t be surprising if more interested parties join in the winter,” says Sroka. Bialystok is the biggest winner of this update not only thanks to Wdowski, but also eleven other upgrades and jumps by 4.5 million to 17.5 million euros in terms of squad values - this means they climb from eighth to fourth place in the league comparison.
A third player who will be upgraded by at least one million euros is Kristoffer Velde. The attacker from Lech Posen is one of the best scorers in the league with seven goals and four assists – for him it goes from 5 million to 6 million euros. The Norwegian is considered a candidate at Fenerbahce. Erik Expósito from league leader Slask Wroclaw currently leads the top scorers list with 14 goals in 19 appearances. The Spaniard, who is also captain of his team, achieved a new personal best at the age of 27: he jumped from 1.8 million to 2.5 million euros.
Legia’s goalkeeper Kacper Tobiasz (-1.5 to 3 million) and teammate Marco Burch (-1 to 2 million) received the biggest devaluations. A total of 15 players from the capital club will be redlined and their squad value will fall by one million euros, but they will still greet you from the top of the Ekstraklasa with 38.4 million euros.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
