After this market value update, Italian international Lorenzo Insigne (31; Toronto) is no longer alone, but with three other professionals at the top of Major League Soccer. On the other hand, Berlin’s Hany Mukhtar (27) from Nashville SC just missed the top spot, but achieved his personal career high. In teams, New York City FC takes pole position after the biggest plus.
While Insigne, who moved to Toronto last summer, was the most valuable player in the league with a market value of 20 million euros, he is now down to 15 million euros. “An age-related devaluation,” as Dominic Becker, Data Administrator North America at Transfermarkt, explains. “Insigne will be 32 next season and since he is still under contract until 2026, he will not achieve a high transfer fee,” says Becker. Mukhtar from Berlin scored the most goals in the regular season, scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 33 appearances. After being the first German to be voted MLS Most Valuable Player, his market value has risen from 8 to his personal best of 12 million euros. According to Becker, the offensive power “set the standards in the league this season”. The expert continues: “Winning the Golden Boot and the MVP award underlines that he has taken a big step forward. In his current form, he would also have been a good option for the German national team. ”Mukhtar had long been considered a candidate for the provisional World Cup list by national coach Hansi Flick, but is apparently not on it.
While Mukhtar is rated higher than ever, several young professionals also achieve their personal bests. One who is said to have caught the eye of European clubs is Chicago Fire FC’s Jhon Durán (18). In the TM rumor mill, the striker, who was involved in 13 goals in 27 games and made his debut for the Colombian national team in September, is associated with Eintracht Frankfurt, among others. His market value increases by 200 percent from 2 to 6 million euros, which only the 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina (+0.5 to 8) surpasses within the team. The goalkeeper is going to Chelsea in the winter after being signed by the Blues for around €9m in the summer but staying in Chicago on loan.
Philadelphia Union’s Paxten Aaronson (19), brother of Leeds’ Brenden Aaronson (22), is also likely to be drawn to Europe. As previously reported by Transfermarkt, Eintracht Frankfurt would like to lure the youngster to the Main. According to consistent media reports from “Bild”, among others, the midfielder will join SGE in the winter. In the room is a fee of 4 million euros plus bonuses. Aaronson’s Philadelphia increases in squad value by €10.4m to €50.2m. Only NYCFC recorded a larger increase, gaining EUR 10.8 million and now providing the most valuable MLS team with EUR 64.05 million. The previous leader, Atlanta, conceded a minus of 6.4 million to 64.6 million euros.
