Premier League update
Following the market value update in the Maltese Premier League, a new leadership duo has been formed. Luke Montebello (28) and Kemar Reid (29) take the lead after increases of 50,000 and 100,000 euros respectively. Reid has had an outstanding season at Floriana FC so far and recently made his debut against England in the European Championship qualifiers after successful naturalization. The attacking midfielder has seven goals to his name in the league, which puts him at the top of the goalscoring list together with Montebello from Hamrun Spartans and Yuri from Marsaxlokk FC.
As a result, the market value of the latter is also increasing. The Brazilian was recently unvalued after moving to Bahrain, but is now back to his former personal best of 300,000 euros. Just behind the top scorer trio is Giannis Bastianos (25) with five goals, who is one of the best players at Hibernians FC and is rewarded with an increase of 50,000 euros to 300,000 euros.
After transfers in the summer, Hamrun’s Nemanja Krstic (29; -450,000 to 200,000 euros), the biggest loser of the update, as well as Marcel Zapytowski (22; -100,000 to 300,000 euros) and Marko Djurisic (26; -300,000 to 100,000 euros) from Birkirkara FC. The out-of-form Jurgen Degabriele (27; -50,000 to 300,000 euros) from Hibernians FC, who is also no longer in the national team squad, also receives a minus.
It should also be mentioned that none of the nine players signed from Ghana were particularly convincing at Sirens FC, who are currently in last place in the table (for all transfers in 2023/24). Elijah Ceesay (19), a former Germany U16 national player, who came from HSV’s U19 team in the summer, has only been on the pitch for eight minutes so far and therefore only receives the minimum market value of 10,000 euros.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
