Market values LaLiga2: Moleiro biggest winner – Mustafi with minus

Uzuni takes the lead

After a market value update in LaLiga2, Spain’s second division has a new MVP – at least until the end of the month. Granada FC’s Myrto Uzuni passes Levante’s Jorge de Frutos but will leave the league thanks to assured promotion. De Frutos could still succeed in the final of the playoffs, as could former German international Shkodran Mustafi, who is one of the losers of the update. The biggest plus is talent Alberto Moleiro, who could soon find himself at a top club.

It’s not just Uzuni’s 23 goals that have contributed to the Albanian striker’s rise in value. “The Granada star was one of the great architects of the rise of the Andalusians,” explains Iván Fuente, Content Manager of Transfermarkt Spain, explaining the plus of 1 million euros, which Uzuni now has at 9 million euros at the top of the market value table in the lower house. The league leaves Uzuni as the top scorer. Should he leave Granada until 2026 despite his contract, his new market value could make him one of the most expensive sales in the club’s history. Only five players brought in €9 million or more for the Nazaríes.

With Las Palmas’ youngster Moleiro the biggest winner of the update is no less a candidate for a move to a top club. The 19-year-old midfielder is up €2m, cementing his position as the league’s most valuable teenager at €5m. “Moleiro’s excellent season has attracted the attention of various teams, including FC Barcelona, who see the possibility of repeating a coup like Pedri’s with Moleiro,” said Fuente.

Minus for Campaña & Mustafi: Age, injuries, disappointments

Levante’s José Campaña, who is now suffering from a cruciate ligament tear after several injuries, has been devalued for the tenth time since the beginning of 2021 – and again significantly. “He didn’t have his best season,” sums up expert Fuente. “In addition to the injuries, there was also the inconsistency in his performances when he was available.” For the midfielder, who has now reached the age of 31, there is an adjustment from €1m down to just €3m. Just two and a half years ago, the former Nuremberg player was valued at 25 million euros.

Mustafi, who was born in Hesse, experienced a not entirely dissimilar market value development. After several devaluations over the last few years, the 2014 world champion continues to lose. “His age, poor performance, injured for a long time,” Fuente lists the reasons for the devaluation of the 31-year-old. Half a million less to just 1 million euros is the result of a season that the Valencian second division club could hardly have turned out poorer with 110 minutes of play over three games despite one goal.

While Levante, with a minus of 2 million euros, is also among the squads with the greatest loss of value (4.81 percent), in second place behind Gijón (7.72 percent), other teams can climb strongly. Las Palmas increased by more than 10 percent (EUR 2.8 million), CD Mirandés even by more than 23 percent (EUR 3.7 million).

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
