Girona with the biggest plus in Europe
Transfermarkt has updated the market values of the Spanish LaLiga. Real Madrid high-flyer Jude Bellingham is the big winner and will now join Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé among the most valuable footballers in the world. The biggest increase in market value updates in Europe in December was secured by FC Girona, who are tied on points with the “Royal”, and whose squad value increased by 64 million euros.
The 20-year-old Englishman, who moved from Borussia Dortmund to Los Blancos in the summer for a fee of more than 100 million euros, has increased his value by 30 million euros for the second time since his transfer. With 180 million euros, he is the second LaLiga professional after Lionel Messi in 2018 to reach this figure. In the league’s internal ranking, Bellingham also overtakes teammate Vinicius Junior, with whom he had previously shared the place in the sun. The value of the Brazilian, who is suffering from a torn thigh muscle, remains at 150 million euros.

Bellingham has an impressive record of 13 goals and two assists from 15 games and leads the LaLiga top scorers list. In the Champions League, after completing the group phase, he scored seven goals in five matches; wearing the national jersey of the “Three Lions” he has added four more scorers from three games since September.
FC Girona is also taking off in terms of squad value: the biggest plus in Europe
The surprise team from FC Girona has recently remained steadfast in the fight for the championship title and, with eight wins from the last ten games, is still one of the strongest teams in the top 5 leagues (statistics). After an increase of 64 million, the new squad value is now 225 million euros.

To overview
The biggest jump in coach Míchel’s squad is made by top scorer Artem Dovbyk, who has been upgraded by 13 million euros to 28 million euros, making him one of the biggest winners in the league. Things are also going up for Sávio (+10 to €20 million), the 19-year-old Brazilian, on loan from Troyes, was directly involved in nine Girona goals. Aleix García (+10 to €20 million), Yangel Herrera (+10 to €20 million), Iván Martín (+6 to €10 million) and Miguel Gutiérrez (+5 to €20 million) are also clear to.
Nine FC Barcelona players are devalued
Around 100 kilometers further south, Catalan rival FC Barcelona suffered the biggest devaluation in the league with a loss of 44 million euros. Nine players are declining in market value, including Pedri (-10 to €90 million), Frenkie de Jong (-10 to €80 million), Raphinha (-10 to €60 million), João Cancelo and João Félix (both -10 to €40 million) and veteran Robert Lewandowski (-10 to €20 million). Compared to Real Madrid, whose squad value remains almost unchanged, the Blaugrana is losing ground, but the “Royal” remain the only team in the league whose value exceeds the billion mark.

Market values LaLiga: Alavés’ Omorodion among biggest winners
In addition to Bellingham and Dovbyk, Alavés striker Samu Omorodion, on loan from Atlético Madrid, is also one of the biggest winners of the update (+14 to 20 million euros). The 19-year-old right-footer with Nigerian roots has already scored five goals in 16 games. The promising offensive force made his debut in Spain’s U21 national team in September, where he has since made five appearances.
Things are also going up for Barça youngster Lamine Yamal and San Sebastián’s Takefusa Kubo (each +10 to €60 million). After Girona, “Los Txuri-Urdin” recorded the second-highest increase in squad value – also thanks to Martín Zubimendi, who was courted by Bayern Munich, and national player Mikel Oyarzabal, who each increased their market value from 40 to 50 million, as well as the increase in midfielder Brais Méndez (+ 10 to 40 million €).
Bilbao’s 21-year-old left winger Nico Williams has increased his market value by a further 10 million for the fifth time in a row since the summer of 2022, climbing to 50 million euros, meaning the Spanish international has achieved the status of the most valuable professional in the “Los Leones” squad.

This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
