Market values Croatia: Zagreb’s Sutalo at the top with a plus of 10 million – Beljo new in the top 10

Complete update HNL

For years, Dinamo Zagreb has dominated both the league (five championships in a row) and market values in the Croatian SuperSport HNL. Even after the latest complete update, the Champions League participant is the measure of all things and continues to provide the majority of the most valuable players. In the top 10, however, four pros from the pursuers made a leap up, including Dion Drena Beljo, who is coveted in the Bundesliga.

At the top, the Zagreb talents make up the top position among themselves. Luka Ivanusec, until the update the most valuable player in the league, has to accept another minus after a devaluation in March and falls from 12.5 million to 10 million euros. Together with team-mate Mislav Orsic (unchanged at €10m), the 22-year-old midfielder is now in second place and has to let Josip Sutalo go.

The 22-year-old central defender is the high-flyer at Zagreb and showed his potential in the “premier class”. A few weeks ago, Sutalo was linked to RB Leipzig, which had good experiences with Dinamo talents when Dani Olmo and Josko Gvardiol were transferred. The transfer fee for both players was over 18 million euros – Sutalo is increasing this value. The plus of 10 million euros is by far the largest in the league.

With Martin Baturina (+€3.5m to €6.5m), Dino Peric (+€1.5m to €5m), Josip Misic (+€1.5m to €3.5m), Dario Spikic ( +1.5 to €3 million) and Robert Ljubicic (+1 to €3.5 million), Zagreb also has other market value winners. The squad value increases by EUR 11.55 million and, at EUR 107.5 million, again exceeds the EUR 100 million mark. For comparison, the Hajduk Split players are worth less than half that, at €46.85m.

The squad value of the second in the table remains almost unchanged and yet some positive developments stand out. Center forward Marko Livaja, the top scorer of the current season with eleven goals in 15 games, has increased by one million euros and has now secured his place in the top 5 with 8 million euros. 19-year-old left winger Stipe Biuk (+1.5 to €5m) and central defender Chidozie Awaziem (+1 to €5m) were also rewarded for their performances over the course of the season and are now tied for ninth place in the league.

Beljo also proved his class in the first 15 games of the season. The 20-year-old striker, who has been linked with the likes of Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfB Stuttgart in the summer, has scored six goals and two assists for NK Osijek. If the performance remains the same, the next offers should only be a matter of time in winter or summer at the latest and will ensure a new record departure at Osijek (currently at €4.5 million). The market value of Beljo increases from 4.5 to 6.5 million euros.

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
