Complete update
Transfermarkt updated the market values for the start of the new Primera División season in Costa Rica. Among the winners are some young players who have made their national team debut in recent months and have managed to qualify for the World Cup after a difficult start to World Cup qualifiers.
Midfielder Brandon Aguilera, whose transfer from Alajuelense to Nottingham Forest was fixed last Sunday (to the news), is growing the most. The 19-year-old, who will initially appear for his loan club Guanacasteca, is now valued at 325,000 euros, previously his market value was 125,000 euros. In addition to Aguilera, Anthony Contreras (22) also impressed with ten league goals in spring and two World Cup qualifying goals during his loan at Guanacasteca. Back at regular club Herediano, the striker is now worth 350,000 euros (+75 thousand euros).
Other market value winners are the two attacking wingers Jewison Bennette (18; Herediano) and Carlos Mora (21; Alajuelense): Both increase from 200,000 to 275,000 euros.

For the two Cartaginés talents Daniel Chacón (21) and Ronaldo Araya (22), the club’s first league title in 82 years also brings an increase in value. Chacón, who was signed by the Colorado Rapids and loaned back to his home club ahead of the World Cup, is now at €300,000 and Araya at €275,000. Both were previously appraised at 200,000 euros. Top scorer and player of the season, Marcel Hernández (33), however, remains at his previous 350,000 euros. Many goals are expected in Cartago in the future from the best foreign goalscorer in league history since April.
While the new generation of national team hopes increases, the old stars lose again. Six months before the end of his career, Bryan Ruiz (36) is only at 200,000 euros (-50 thousand euros), Celso Borges (34) at 225,000 euros (-50 thousand euros). However, the biggest losers are Waylon Francis (31) and Ulises Segura (29) after returning from MLS. Both fall from 500,000 to 275,000 euros. Due to a cruciate ligament rupture, Segura Saprissa will be absent for the entire autumn.
This is how the Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
