Talent goes to the Gold Cup
Transfermarkt has completely updated the market values of Costa Rica’s Primera División. The biggest winners include the two 18-year-old offensive players Warren Madrigal from champion Deportivo Saprissa and Josimar Alcócer from runner-up LD Alajuelense. Both were called up to Costa Rica’s squad for the Gold Cup.
Madrigal, who was the champions’ top scorer with seven goals in the spring, has increased its value by 233% to €250,000 (previously €75,000). Outside player Alcócer, on the other hand, contributed four goals and three assists for his team and rose from 125,000 to 225,000 euros.
Jesús Godínez (photo) was loaned to CS Herediano by Mexican first division club Deportivo Guadalajara with a market value of half a million euros. However, it could not justify the most expensive value in the league and is now only valued at 325,000 euros. As a result, the 26-year-old falls behind his offensive colleague Anthony Contreras (23), whose market value remains at 375,000 euros.
This is how the Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
