Market values Chile: Aravena climbs to the top – minus for Lomónaco

Interim update Primera División

After the interim update in the Primera División de Chile, there is a change at the top of the most valuable players. After an increase of 500,000 euros to 4 million euros, Alexander Aravena (21) from Universidad Católica is catching up with Lucas Assadi (19; Club Universidad de Chile), whose valuation remains unchanged. The left winger impressed with ten goals and three assists in 22 games. “I personally see him in a different league in the near future because he has shown a different level,” predicts Scott Christensen, Area Manager Argentina & South America at Transfermarkt, about the dangerous winger, who has already made his first steps in the Chilean national team has.

Only Colo Colo’s Damián Pizarro (18), who is up by 1 million euros, has achieved an even greater appreciation than Aravena. “The center forward is one of the most promising Chilean youngsters and has shown solid performances in his first season as a professional,” says Christensen, explaining the new market value of 3.5 million euros for Pizarro, who is now the third most valuable footballer in the league.

Meanwhile, the market value curves for central defender Emiliano Amor (28; Colo Colo), from 900,000 to 500,000 euros, and the defensive midfielder Ignacio Saavedra (24; Universidad Católica), from 1.5 million to 1.2 million euros, point downwards. The latter’s loss is particularly interesting, as he was considered one of the greatest hopes in Chile. “The start of his career was fantastic, he won the championship in each of his first four seasons with Universidad Católica. “The last few seasons and especially this year have been so bad that the club probably won’t extend his contract,” explains Christensen.

The red pencil was also given to Fernando Zampedri (35; Universidad Católica) and Sebastián Lomónaco (25; Unión La Calera). Zampedri drops by 300,000 euros to 700,000 euros due to age, although he regularly scores goals and is currently the top scorer. Lomónaco, who goes from 1.7 million to 1.5 million euros, came to Chile from his native Argentina in January, but doesn’t seem to have really settled in yet. The striker, who is not a regular member of the Unión La Caleras starting eleven, has scored three goals so far.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
