Complete update
After Boca Juniors’ final victory in the Copa de la Liga Profesional de Fútbol and shortly before the start of the league at the beginning of June, Transfermarkt carried out a comprehensive update of the market values in the Argentine upper house. The most valuable player remains shortly before his move to Manchester City with unchanged 23 million euros striker Julián Álvarez (22), who was able to prove his nose for goals in 2022 for River Plate.
The biggest winner of the update is Álvarez’s teammate Enzo Fernández. The 21-year-old homegrown player has become the linchpin of coach Marcelo Gallardo’s game at River Plate, the midfield talent has had 14 goals in 19 games. Top European clubs such as Real Madrid, the “Citizens”, Benfica Lisbon and AC or Inter Milan have long been interested in Fernández. With a revaluation from 6.5 to 15 million euros, Fernández is now the second most valuable player in Argentina.

Carlos Alcaraz from the Racing Club also made a big leap into the top 10. The 19-year-old midfielder, previously not even in the top 100, is considered one of the biggest discoveries of the Copa de la Liga Professional and has increased his market value from 1.5 to 8 million euros. There is also a plus for Luis Vázquez (21), who was last associated with BVB. The Boca Juniors striker increases from 3.8 to 4.5 million euros.

The biggest market value losers also wear the jerseys of River Plate and Boca Juniors. Nicolás de la Cruz (24; €13m) and Cristian Pavón (26; €5.5m) each lost €3m. The once highly valued talents have recently been unable to build on old achievements, Pavón also got bogged down in the transfer dispute with his club and decided at the beginning of the year to leave Boca Juniors when his contract expired in the summer. Since then, the offensive player has not been used. It’s still unclear where he’s going.
