Godoy Cruz biggest winner
In the market value update in Argentina there is a clear winner: top talent and U17 captain Claudio Echeverri (17). “El Diablitos” tripled his valuation and is now the third most valuable player in the Argentine professional league at 12 million euros – the attacking midfielder from CA River Plate is also among the ten most highly valued U17 youngsters worldwide.
“Echeverri is just taking his first steps in professional football, but his performances at the U17 World Cup with the Argentina national team were outstanding and attracted interest from some top European clubs such as Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona. The ‘Millonarios’ fans are keen on him and will probably see more of him in 2024 unless a club makes use of his release clause and gets him in the upcoming transfer window,” says Scott Christensen, Area Manager AR & South America at TM. Transfermarkt recently introduced Echeverri in more detail as part of the talent calendar – click here for the portrait.
Echeverri on the podium: The most valuable players in Argentina
Valentín Barco (19) from rival Boca Juniors also increased by 3 million euros to 13 million euros, which means he can stay in second place in the league rankings, just ahead of Echeverri, and is now one of the 30 most valuable Argentines. Christensen on the plus side of the left foot: “The full-back turned midfielder was the star of a Boca team and reached the final of the Copa Libertadores at the age of 19.” The top spot in the Liga Profesional de Fútbol still belongs to Nicolás de la Cruz (26 ), the “best river player of the year” according to Christensen, which is rewarded with an increase of 3 million to 14 million euros.
Godoy Cruz biggest squad value winner – Garcés loses after relegation
The biggest winner in terms of squad value is Godoy Cruz. “El Tomba” climbs by 7.8 million to 28.4 million euros, moving up six places and is now one of the 15 most valuable clubs in the Argentine top league. Hernán López Muñoz (23), nephew of Argentina legend Diego Maradona, and Tadeo Allende (24) are largely responsible for this. “López Muñoz has the qualities of a midfielder that are no longer so common in modern football and stood out in Godoy Cruz’s great season,” explains expert Christensen, explaining the 23-year-old’s €2.5 million increase to 5 .5 million euros. Allende’s figure increases by 2 million to 4.5 million euros.
The biggest losers are River Plate’s additions Pity Martínez (30; -2 to 3 million euros) and Manuel Lanzini (30; -1.5 to 3.5 million euros). “They came back as leaders in mid-2023 but were never able to prove their quality. Lanzini got more minutes than Pity, but his performance fell far short of expectations,” emphasizes Christensen. The third person in the group to lose more than one million euros is CA Colón’s captain Facundo Garcés (24; -1.5 to 3 million euros) after his relegation to the second division.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
