by Mark Wahlberg an old assault conviction came to the fore again after she took the stage at the SAG Gala to present an award. In the late 1980s, Wahlberg was convicted of two counts of assault as a result of touching two people of Vietnamese descent.
Wahlberg’s violent crime conviction years ago came to the fore because recently his victims were specifically people of Asian background. Actors of Asian background were particularly prominent at the SAG gala Everything Everywhere All At Once with the movie.
The main actor of the film Michelle Yeoh made history at the gala when she was awarded Best Actress as the first Asian actor ever. History was also made at the SAG gala by the male supporting role in the film We Huy Quan, as he was also awarded for his role as the first actor of Asian background ever in that category. The film was also awarded at the gala for the best ensemble.

A discussion quickly started on social media regarding whether Wahlberg, because of his background, was the right person to reward actors of Asian background at the gala.
– This is embarrassing for all of Hollywood, one Twitter user states.
The situation was considered especially funny in the home audience because the winners of the gala brought up the racism that Asians have had to face in Hollywood in their acceptance speeches.
– How did no one think of how problematic it is that Wahlberg is giving an award to a historical Asian-oriented film? another Twitter user wonders.
The organizers of the gala, in particular, receive criticism on Twitter.
– I’m just saying that this shows bad taste, sums up on Twitter.
