Mark Rutte ends up on juice channel Yvonne Coldeweijer, Op1 star angry

Mark Rutte and a male terrace partner ended up on Yvonne Coldeweijer’s juice channel. Pretty low to the ground, Op1’s political reporter Thomas van Groningen thinks it is.

Even the Prime Minister of our country has to believe it: Mark Rutte ended up on Yvonne Coldeweijer’s juice channel yesterday. She has in her stories posted two photos on Instagram of the prime minister sitting on a terrace with a gentleman unknown to the general public. “Mark Rutte on a date? ?”, can be read at the first photo.

A little later, Yvonne wonders who that gentleman in that light blue T-shirt actually is. “Does anyone know who this gentleman is? Markie’s love life (when existent) seems like a nice project to me,” she says.

Inappropriate, Op1’s political reporter Thomas van Groningen thinks it is. “Then you sit behind an ashtray secretly taking pictures of the Prime Minister and sending them to a juice channel. ?‍?”, he tweeted disapprovingly.

‘Sad affair!’

Thomas gets support from a number of other journalism colleagues. For example, Matthijs Snepvangers of Omroep West says: “Sad affair. You can take these photos of Rutte every week in the city center of The Hague. He often meets up with his friends in the local catering industry.”

And opinion maker Anne Fleur Dekker: “I really find this so disgusting, I can’t. ‘Nice project’. Mark Rutte also has the right to a private life. Also just human. But apparently those people don’t understand that and I think this development is getting scarier.”

‘Pot calling the kettle black’

However, there is also criticism, for example from Hart van Nederland editor Patrick Huisman. He says: “I don’t want to be very annoying but you have 25,000+ followers. They wouldn’t have all seen this without your tweet. I don’t watch juice channels. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. This is a case of ‘pot calling the kettle black’.”

One Wout Jan: “I would never have seen this without your tweet.”

And Yuri: “Then why are you sharing this?! To treat people like me who don’t follow juice channels to this ‘news’? That way your own twitter account becomes a kind of juice channel, right?”

From VI to Op1

Jan Dijkgraaf is so annoyed by Thomas that he even has a so-called ‘letter from Jan‘ devoted to. He thinks that the journalist is very much the ‘moral knight’ after his switch from Today Inside to Op1. “And then the way in which… By posting that photo yourself and thus giving it a wider stage.”

Yvonne has also responded to Thomas’s criticism. She says, “Sit down, afraid that some raunchy juice outlet is going to bring you scoops that you should have brought ?.”

Jan has now discovered who the gentleman in question is: Jeroen Manders, the nephew of Mark Rutte.
