Mark Lanegan would have been 59 years old on November 25th. We remember the musician who died too early.
Mark Lanegan became known as the singer and songwriter for the band Screaming Trees. This picture shows him performing in 1994.
Lanegan and Kurt Cobain were close friends. Cobain appeared as a guest star on Lanegan’s solo debut THE WINDING SHEET. Lanegan also described their friendship in his autobiography SING BACKWARDS AND WEEP.

He shared not only a friendship with Isobel Campbell, but also a creative partnership. Their first album together, BALLAD OF THE BROKEN SEAS, was released in 2006, followed two years later by SUNDAY AT DIRT DEVIL.

After the dissolution of Screaming Trees, Lanegan took off as a solo artist and released a lot of great albums like WHISKEY FOR THE HOLY GHOST and BUBBLEGUM.
Lanegan had a special musical connection with Greg Dulli. The two supported each other in their solo work and also had a joint project with The Gutter Twins.
Dinosaur Jr. boss J Mascis was also a musical companion of Lanegan. Here you can see the two of them in 1994.
