Mario Götze is back in the Bundesliga – change fixed

Mario Gotze is back. The attacking midfielder and world champion of 2014 has reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt and will wear the Hessen jersey in the future.

World Cup hero Mario Götze is back in the Bundesliga and will play for Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt in the future. The 30-year-old is moving from the Dutch first division club PSV Eindhoven to Hessen, as the Bundesliga club confirmed on Tuesday. The winner of the 2014 final against Argentina in Rio de Janeiro is thus back in Germany almost two years after leaving Borussia Dortmund. “I’m really looking forward to my return to the Bundesliga,” said Götze, according to the announcement.

He will receive a contract on the Main until 2025. Neither club made any statements about the transfer modalities, around four million euros were discussed. The 63-time national player was under contract in Eindhoven until June 30, 2024. Already on Monday Götze had not taken part in the training of the Dutch top club. On Tuesday he first passed the medical check in Frankfurt and then signed the contract.

Götze will play the Champions League with Eintracht in the future

With PSV and outgoing German coach Roger Schmidt, the 2014 world champions had won the Dutch Cup and finished second in the league, just two points behind champions Ajax Amsterdam. Schmidt will coach Benfica Lisbon next season and, according to media reports, would have liked to have taken Götze with him to Portugal.
