FC Bayern is in crisis. After the recent bankruptcy in Bochum, ex-player Mario Basler criticized one star in particular – and called for his departure.
The 2-3 defeat at VfL Bochum last Sunday put FC Bayern on alert. Coach Thomas Tuchel’s team lost its third game in a row. The first titleless season in twelve years is looming.
Ex-Bayern star Mario Basler sharply criticized the German record champions in his podcast “Basler ballert” and spoke of the “sleeper football” that the team would play. He particularly targeted one professional after the Bochum bankruptcy.
“When I look at the 1-1 draw and see how Kimmich gets carried away in the duel in midfield, I have to say that as a spectator at home I’m going crazy,” said Basler. When the score was 1-0 for Bayern, Joshua Kimmich didn’t get into the duel against Bochum’s Anthony Losilla after Musiala lost the ball. He then prepared the 1:1 through teammate Takuma Asano.
“I expect more, but of course that’s typical Kimmich,” said Basler. “I’m always harassed when I attack Kimmich, but he showed again at the weekend that he’s not the Kimmich he might have been four or five years ago.”
“Otherwise you have to pay him money”
For Basler, an early departure of Kimmich is an option that FC Bayern should definitely consider. “It’s best to sell it quickly in the summer so that you can still get a little money, otherwise you have to pay him money so that he leaves at some point,” emphasized the 55-year-old.
Thomas Tuchel, whose relationship with Kimmich is considered tense and who is already a big player as Bayern coach, defended Basler. “The team is really letting this club and Thomas Tuchel down,” he made clear. “All I’ve been hearing for days now is that Tuchel hasn’t made any player better. You can’t make Sané, who can be a world-class player, much better,” he explained and added: “What else can you teach him? ?”
