National soccer player Marina Hegering is moving from FC Bayern Munich to title rival VfL Wolfsburg, the Lower Saxony announced.
Hegering (32), who has been with FC Bayern since 2020, has been given a contract with VfL until June 30, 2026. Hegering is said to remain active as a player for two years. After that, the defensive specialist should take over tasks in the coaching team of the six-time German champion. Hegering already has a coaching license for juniors.
“I’m very happy to be able to continue my career at VfL Wolfsburg this summer and thus at the highest European level,” said Hegering. “I particularly appreciate the great prospect of becoming a coach at VfL Wolfsburg after my playing career.”
