The Finnish textile supplier Marimekko Corporation closed the first half of the 2022 financial year with a significant increase in sales and increased its profit. This emerges from an interim report published by the company on Wednesday.
Accordingly, sales in the months from January to June were 74.0 million euros and thus 20 percent above the corresponding level of the previous year. The development was spurred on by strong growth on the Finnish home market: sales there rose by 26 percent to 41.5 million euros. In international business, sales improved by 13 percent to EUR 32.5 million.
Thanks to the significant growth in sales and lower depreciation, the company was able to significantly increase its earnings despite higher costs: The operating profit was 12.3 million euros and thus around 17 percent above the comparable figure for the previous year. The bottom line was a net profit of 9.8 million euros, which corresponded to an increase of almost 22 percent compared to the first half of 2021.
