Mariëlle Tweebeeke benefits from cabinet crisis: ‘More than Tineke!’

Mariëlle Tweebeeke benefits greatly from the cabinet crisis. Her program Nieuwsuur managed to captivate just a little more viewers than hit cabaret artist Tineke Schouten last night. “A thousand more.”

It is a crisis in The Hague: many media alluded to the fall of the cabinet last night, but that did not happen. The negotiations between VVD, D66, CDA and ChristenUnie were broken off around 1.45 am last night. “That means that the cabinet is once again facing an exciting day. The crisis atmosphere has by no means disappeared,” says de NOS.

Marielle scores

Prime Minister Mark Rutte would like to limit the asylum flow by fiddling with the rules for family reunification of future refugees, which is leading to resentment in the coalition. Last night it resulted in extra well-watched broadcasts of both the talk show Op1 and the Mariëlle Tweebeeke show Nieuwsuur.

With 707 thousand viewers (17 percent market share), Mariëlle put in an exceptionally good performance on NPO 2. She was the second most watched program at half past nine. “Nieuwsuur had a lot of viewers because of the cabinet crisis and managed to fascinate just a little more people than Tineke Schouten, who took bronze”, writes viewing figure connoisseur Joost Maiburg.

At the same time, the Evening Stage attracted the most attention (908 thousand), Tineke’s show Dubbel had 706 thousand.

Much more for Op1

Viewing figure connoisseur Tina Nijkamp points also on the good score of Op1. This time 806 thousand people (28 percent) watched it. The competing talk show Renze Klamer, on the other hand, sets a record low with 541 thousand viewers and Hélène Hendriks’ De Oranjezomer? It has 573 thousand.

That is a bit disappointing, says Tina. “The Oranjezomer has had the least evening of the week. Ai. 573 thousand and considerably less in the target group in particular: 8.9 percent market share in 25-54 years. The lowest scoring episode of the week also in 25-54 years and only a thousand viewers more than Marcel & Gijs last Thursday.”

Is it because of Frank?

Could Hélène’s lower score be due to the lead-in? The replay of Mr. Frank Visser Doet Uitspraak reached 575 thousand viewers (15 percent). No, says Tina, that’s not a bad score. “For example, a better score than Family Gillis on Tuesday.”

The good score of Mariëlle’s Nieuwsuur seems to be the most important factor, says Tina. “Due to the cabinet crisis, about 200 thousand viewers higher than normal. De Oranjezomer is also affected by that.”
